Mantle Receives Mines Act Permit for 2007 Akie Exploration Program
June 5, 2007
Vancouver, B.C. – June 5, 2007 – Mantle Resources Inc. (TSX Venture: MTS; Frankfurt: A0F7E1) (“Mantle” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has received a Mines Act permit from the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources which authorizes exploration activities on the Company’s Akie zinc-lead property located in northeastern British Columbia, approximately 260 kilometers north-northwest of the town of Mackenzie.
Work is presently underway to open the access road into the Akie campsite to allow mobilization of a new 45 person camp facility which will replace the structure established in late 2005. Field crews are presently at the property to prepare a serviced site for this arrival. It is expected that the new camp will accommodate all of the technical, drill and various support personnel associated with the 2007 program, including those related to initial base-line environmental studies and preliminary activities associated with planned construction of a new access road.
Three fully staffed, high capacity, helicopter portable diamond drill rigs, complete with a self contained machine shop, will be on site by approximately mid-June. The rigs will be tasked to carry out infill drilling within the Akie (Cardiac Creek Zone) mineralized zone; to investigate the along strike and dip extent of this mineralization; and to test high priority targets identified on the Akie property and elsewhere within the extensive, very prospective, 180 km long Kechika Trough land package controlled by Mantle. It is anticipated that 20 to 25 holes will be completed this year for a total of approximately 15,000 meters of drilling.
“With the corporate developments over the past 5 months recently completed, including the successful takeover and integration of Ecstall Mining Corporation, we are pleased to now be able to turn all of our attention and focus to this year’s exploration program,” said
Peeyush Varshney
, president of Mantle Resources Inc. “We look forward to some very exciting times ahead.”
About the Akie Property
The Akie zinc-lead property is situated within the southern-most part (Ketchika Trough) of the regionally extensive Paleozoic Selwyn Basin, one of the most prolific sedimentary basins in the world for the occurrence of SEDEX zinc-lead-silver and stratiform barite deposits.
Drilling on the Akie property by Inmet Mining Corporation during the period 1994 to 1996 and Mantle in 2005 and 2006 has identified a significant body of baritic SEDEX mineralization (Cardiac Creek Zone) containing average combined zinc+lead contents in excess of 10%. The deposit is hosted by variably siliceous, fine-grained clastic rocks of the Middle to Late Devonian ‘Gunsteel formation’. Three similar deposits, Cirque, South Cirque and Driftpile (all owned by Teck Cominco), with a combined geologic inventory in excess of 65 million tonnes averaging approximately 10% combined zinc+lead, occur in ‘Gunsteel’ rocks to the northwest of the Akie deposit.
